Beliau, bagaimanapun enggas mengulas lanjut.

“Saya berkhidmat atas kehendak Perdana Menteri.”

Chua memperoleh 16,469 undi manakala Tee mendapat 5,740 undi. Sebelum itu, kerusi Parlimen Labis disandang bekas presiden MCA Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik. - Bernama

Confession, from NST...

Chua apologised to Malaysians, his supporters and his colleagues for the indiscretion and said he had apologised to both Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi, his deputy Datuk Seri Najib Razak and MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting.

However, said he would not quit his government and party positions.

Reading a prepared statement at a press conference at the Labis MCA office here, the minister described the woman as a personal friend. He refused to elaborate.

“The most important thing to me is that my wife, children and family have accepted my apology and forgive me,” Chua said at a packed news conference filled with journalists and his supporters.

He appealed to the media to give space to his family in these trying moments.

Chua stressed that he had not made the recording of himself but while it was not important in the context of his situation who had made the recordings, the motives of those responsible was quite clear, he said.

He did not elaborate but his comments seemed to suggest that it was his political enemies who had been behind the secret filming of his sexual act.

Chua repeatedly apologised to Malaysians and his supporters and said he was grateful for their calls and SMS to him.

Asked by journalists on what he intended to do about the manner the tape was obtained, Chua said he left it to the police to investigate.
Pressed on his position in the Cabinet, Chua said: “I serve at the pleasure of the Prime Minister.”

Chua’s case is not the first involving politicians, from both sides of the spectrum, in the country in controversies of sexual nature.

The existence of the DVD featuring Chua was first reported in the Chinese dailies on Sunday, after its emergence earlier in the day.

In the past, there have been controversies involving former Malacca Chief Minister Tan Sri Rahim Thamby Chik, former Selangor Mentri Besars Tan Sri Muhammad Taib Muhammad and Datuk Abu Hassan Omar, opposition Keadilan defacto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and a former DAP assemblyman in Penang whose wife committed suicide from the Penang bridge after learning of his affair with another woman.

All these politicians saw their political careers suffer because of the controversies and none have managed a comeback to their former stature although some tried and are still trying.

Chua, a former Johore executive councillor, rose to national political prominence after he was appointed as Minister of Health in 2004 and became MCA vice-president.

He was widely seen as a serious candidate for the MCA deputy presidency, now held by Transport Minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy, and eventually as MCA president.

However, his indiscretion may have cost him his political career, as evidenced by previous incidents involving politicians.

Transcript of Chua's questions and answers session from NST...

Q: Who is behind the production of the DVD? Are they your political rival?
A: Who has done it is not important anymore and I have stated this in my statement already. I do not want to make any speculation.

Q: What is your position in the Cabinet now?
A; All ministers serve at the pleasure of the Prime Minister.

Q: What would your next course of action be and are you lodging a police report?
A: I will think about it and the police had already commenced investigation. Also, intruding into the privacy of others is an offence. Maybe I will lodge a police report after meeting reporters.

Q: Do you see this as an attempt to ruin your political career? A: I will let party members, leaders and Malaysians be the judge and this is not something for me to speculate upon.

Q: Do you rule out the possibility of such an attempt?
A: I had already said the reason the recording was done and the agenda are obvious.

Q: What's the reaction of the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and the MCA president after you met them?
A: On their reactions, it is better for you all to meet the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and the MCA president. I could not represent them in presenting their views about myself.

Q: When did you meet the Prime Minister?
A: I met the Prime Minister yesterday.

Q: What is your position now?
A: My business is as usual. I already said all ministers serve at the pleasure of the Prime Minister.

Q: When did you know about the recording?
A: Sunday morning.

Q: Is it an old or new recording?
A: I really don't know.

Q: How did you get the DVD?
A: My friend passed me a copy.

Q: How's your relationship with the party president and deputy president?
A: As I had said earlier, I will not speculate on the people behind the making of this recording. This is no longer important.

Q: How is your family's response on the recording?
A: My wife and children will make a separate statement to reporters and Bernama today. They are on my side and there is no problem.

Q: Will you cooperate with the police in their investigations?
A: Sure. I am a responsible citizen.

Q: Will you carry out your duties as usual?
A: I just attended a function in Segamat Hospital and after this, I am going to meet the Indian community in Bekok. My business is as usual. I will not be affected by anyone trying to prevent or stop me from carrying out the duties accorded to me as a minister or MP or party leader.

Q: So there is no issue about you resigning?
A: How many times do you want me to repeat. I have already said it three times already.
